Betty Burgers brightened up a grey rainy afternoon in Santa Cruz, not the sort of weather I was expecting for sunny California. Navigating into town to have a closer look at the famous ‘Lost Boys’ rollercoaster I spotted their Seabright Avenue branch, just a stone’s throw away from our hotel. What a find. As I was only in-town for one night I chose their staple the Big Betty burger. A weighty 1/2 pounder with what Betty’s describes as their ‘secret lube’ sauce. The patty was a good size and was cooked medium as standard.
A really juicy patty but with plenty of flavour, well worth the $6.49 price tag (around £4), you’d be hard-pressed to find a burger of this quality and price in the UK. The secret lube sauce was good and not over-loaded with sugar, like most of the other sauces I tried in the US.
A great value burger joint, that’s not pretentious and well worth a visit.
